Meet the team

Drew Collins

Drew Collins

CEO / Founder

Drew is the Founder of Inoculate the World, which began as a passionate hobby and ultimately turned into the business that it is today. He never planned on it turning into such a big part of his life, or a known name in the mushroom space, but as the dominoes fell, ITW was formed. When Drew saw a lack of transparency in strains, clean genetics and high-level customer service in the industry, he knew he could fill the gap.

Since then, ITW continues to grow every month because Drew is passionate about mushrooms, and has been since he was a kid. Now, that same passion takes him all around the world as he searches for new strains of mushrooms to share with the loyal ITW customer base. It’s his favorite part about owning a mushroom spore store—all the great people he gets to meet on his travels and forays. In his free time, you can catch him spending time with his partner and family, including 2 large breed dogs named Buddy and Penny, as well as two kune-kune pigs.

Emma

Emma

Lab Manager

Emma is the Production Lab Manager at Inoculate the World and has been in charge of the lab since the company’s beginning. Her day-to-day consists of managing the production team to ensure all our products are tested and manufactured to the highest quality standards and get out to our loyal customers in a timely fashion. She loves the job because she gets to utilize her unique background—which by the way, includes a degree in molecular biology—niche interests and her whole self to grow something that affects the world in a positive way.

Emma has always been interested in science, and in addition to being enamored with mushrooms, she also loves insects, spiders and sea organisms (her favorites being parasitoid wasps, jumping spiders and Nudibranchs, respectively). When she’s not in the lab, you can catch Emma cooking elaborate meals, sewing and knitting, gardening, hiking with her two dogs and crying along to Korean TV dramas.

Juan

Juan

Fulfillment Manager

Juan is the General Manager of the Inoculate the World shipping office. He’s the one that packages every order placed at ITW, and he’s been at it for almost 3 years. Juan loves the job, not only because it’s flexible—he’s also a full time student—but also because he knows he’s part of a service that benefits people all over the world.

He strongly believes Inoculate the World genetics are the best and cleanest for anyone who’s interested in fungi, or as Terrence McKenna would call them, “Food of the Gods.” In his free time, you can catch Juan spending time with his family, friends and girlfriend, working on his car, playing soccer and working out. He’s a strong believer in the phrase, “If you’re going to do something, do it right the first time.”

Avery Goodman

Avery Goodman

Creative Director

Avery is the Creative Director and Assistant Production Manager at Inoculate the World. His day-to-day consists of generating the Inoculate the World graphics and overall brand identity, as well as brainstorming exciting new projects and places to explore. He’s been with the company since day one when our founder was searching for a unique approach to packaging spore prints; he happened upon Avery selling his handmade marbled paper—and the rest is history.

Avery originally got into mushrooms as a young adult experimenting with psychoactive forms of fungi, which he credits to broadening his imagination in immeasurable ways, and ultimately leading him to overcome issues with motivation, purpose and depression. He loves the job because it forces him to keep growing and learning, and it puts so many of his niche interests to use. In Avery’s free time, you can find him exploring food, drink, music and natural wonders of the world. He’s passionate about cognitive liberty and encourages all those interested to read Aurelius’ Meditations.

Michelle Janikian

Michelle Janikian

Senior Content Strategist

Michelle is the Senior Content Strategist at Inoculate the World, in charge of all written content including the blog, newsletter and other educational and marketing efforts. She’s the author of Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion (Ulysses Press, 2019), an easy-to-digest guide on everything you need to know as you develop a relationship with shrooms.

Michelle’s been writing about mushrooms, psychedelics and cannabis for the last 10 years for publications like High Times, Rolling Stone and Playboy—and we’re very glad she’s recently joined ITW as our newest team member! In her free time you can catch her and her husband stargazing, looking for aliens, hiking in the woods with their 2 rescue dogs, Chuy and Boomer, and learning about the local fungi and flora in their area.

Jozie

Jozie

Head of Customer Service

Jozie started at ITW as a Distribution Associate in the shipping office and worked her way up to Head of Customer Service. As part of the team for the last three years, Jozie is always helping out with new initiatives and she’s even started writing some educational content for our blog!

Before joining the ITW team, she had an appreciation for mycology, but loves how the job has taught her so much about the mycelia world. In her free time, you can catch Jozie lifting weights and spending time with her cat. She’s recently graduated college with a degree in anthropology, and she’s planning on starting an anthropology and cultural criticism blog—so keep an eye out!

Lali

Lali

Distribution Associate

Citlali Perez, or Lali for short, is one of our Distribution Associates at the Inoculate the World shipping office. For the past two years she’s been helping to keep the office efficient by labeling spore syringes, building boxes, cutting thank you notes, and any other tasks that need doing. For her, the best part of the job is being part of such a great team who have become close friends over the years.

When Lali started at ITW she didn’t know that much about mushrooms, but loves how the job has taught her so much and continues to teach her every day. In her free time, Lali enjoys crafting—especially crocheting and painting—and playing soccer, which have all been big parts of her life for awhile.

Ohsh

Ohsh

Lab Assitant

Ohsh (they/them) is responsible for all stages of production at Inoculate the World, including sterilizing lab equipment, pulling spores and isolations into syringes (they make up to 500 spore syringes a day!) and maintaining overall order in our busy lab. They’ve been working at Inoculate the World since 2023 and love learning new things about mushrooms all the time. In fact, one of Ohsh’s favorite parts of the job is knowing they’re helping to bring more mushroom awareness into the world on a daily basis.

Outside the lab, they enjoy cooking vegan masterpieces with culinary mushrooms, including Mexican classics like tamales and pozole with king oyster mushrooms, even though they’re not vegan themselves. In their free time you can catch Ohsh spending time with loved ones, either cooking up a storm or heading to a local waterfall when the weather’s nice. They also enjoy listening to their favorite songs on repeat with their cat, Cash, and their purple corn snake, Chamoy.

Linnea

Linnea

Distribution Associate

Linnea is a Distribution Associate at the Inoculate the World shipping office. For the past year, she’s been an integral part of our team’s production by labeling syringes and spore prints, delivering packages, and other related tasks. In fact, one of her favorite parts of her day-to-day is seeing all the label designs we have for different strains—they get her interested in what makes that strain unique. That’s because Linnea is an artist too, and spends a lot of her free time painting, drawing, and collaging.

Even though she got into the field of mushrooms by chance, it’s been endlessly inspiring for her, and she loves how the many little facets to explore about mushrooms keeps her curious and thinking critically about the world. Most recently, she’s become very interested in the mushroom’s role as both a decomposer and composer of networks, and it’s fed into her artistic practice. When she’s not working or making art, you can catch Linnea enjoying an espresso, playing Guitar Hero, or whistling like a Disney princess.
