Psilocybe Cyanescens Kula Isolated Spore Syringe

$30.00

Psilocybe cyanescens Kula is named after Kula, an area of Maui located on the western-facing slopes of Haleakalā, the shield volcano that forms 75% of the island.

The word Kula translates to “dry, open country” describing the region that spans Maui’s warmest and most arid zones. These conditions would typically be considered demanding or even inhospitable to Psilocybe cyanescens, making the samples found in this region particularly heat tolerant.

Psilocybe Cyanescens

On a trip to visit a friend in Hawaii, Yma & Avery narrowly arrived before a state of emergency was declared on account of a storm. With beaches being shut to the public and evacuations being issued around the island there wasn’t much for them to do. Luckily, a botanical garden in the upcountry foothills of Haleakalā, a dormant volcano that makes up 75% of the entire island of Maui, happened to be open. Much to their surprise, they spotted what appeared to be Ps. cyanescens growing out of mulch not far from some rare tropical plants!? After a little sleuthing it seems they were not the first to encounter these mushrooms that are commonly found growing back in the PNW. In fact, genetic sequencing had previously been done to confirm our suspicions! Finally, a cyan more tolerant of higher temperatures. I think we’ll name it Kula.
