Sibu Cubensis Spore Print
$30.00
Sibu (pronounced: “See-Boo”) Cubensis Spore Prints come from an ITW original Ps. cubensis strain, foraged in the Limon province of Costa Rica by our founder, Drew.
In the Talamanca region of Costa Rica, indigenous mythology considers Sibú to be the primary diety: the creator and guardian of humanity. According to this belief system, Sibú prescribes morality, values, and customs, including rules for food and agriculture.
Drew, along with local friends Ice and Fabricio, foraged the original Sibu genetics while traveling through the Limon Province, about 3 hours from San Jose’s city center. The rocky, hilly terrain was crowded with plant life such as tall grasses and trees. Strong winds in the area set the scene for a typical cubensis mushroom hunting adventure. The original sample, a tall, thick-stemmed mushroom, foretold the features of its later domesticated isolation, even down to the unique, UFO saucer-like cap.
With no foil or paper available, Drew printed the mushroom cap on a page inside his copy of Plants Of The Gods, written by Richard Evans Schultes and Albert Hofmann.
After the hunt, the group travelled about two hours away from the collection site to spend the evening listening to music and learning about Talamancan mythology in a friend’s treehouse. All the while, the wild cubensis spores slowly dropped from the foraged mushroom cap, onto a page of the book. The next morning, they carefully lifted the cap to reveal a beautiful dense spore print on the page. The resulting strain, like many of our wild selections, such as Tosohatchee Cubensis and Guapiles Cubensis, has a remarkably high potency.
For interested researchers, we also carry Sibu Cubensis Isolated Spore Syringes and Sibu Cubensis Spore Syringes.
